Duration: about 35 minutes
(This was performed as part 1 of a double bill with Gilgamesh.)
Circe presents the earliest account of Circe and the Sirens, demonstrating the skills through which Homer transformed them into eternal archetypes of the temptations of the flesh. In Act I Circe uses drugs to turn many of Odysseus’s crew into pigs. In Act II he is given an antidote to undo her work (and to enjoy safe sex with her for a year). In Act III we follow him as he resumes his voyage past the Sirens.
