Horace (Corneille)
Insoluble ethical conflicts between the demands of honour, love, family, religion, society and destiny were dramatised by Corneille as taking place on a single day in the remote Roman past. His 17th century tragedy engages our sympathy with all the characters and remains incredibly moving and relevant in our own time.
