This is the play which launched the series, and is an excellent choice for anyone’s first classical drama production: Homer’s famous story of the shipwrecked hero woken by the laughter of a local princess playing ball with her companions. The innocent charm of the scene on the beach is matched by the splendour of the palace (where a minstrel sings of the Fall of Troy); and the irresistible “brief encounter” ends with Nausicaa’s simple words ‘Remember me’.
