Oedipus at Colonus (Sophocles)

Duration: about 75 minutes

The greater of the two tragedies that Sophocles devoted to Oedipus is matched by the most substantial of all my semi-stagings. The film captures four specially memorable interpretations and the raw power of Bartok’s duos, while the matchless surtitles are a wonderful guide to the whole play, along with the expressionistic images specially drawn by Sam Motherwell.
